Calum believed he was a monster after what happened back home but he trusts Skylar so he told her his darkest secret. Skylar just wanted to be friends with Calum but she didn't know how misunderstood the new kid was. That didn't stop her though.

I'm not good with descriptions so i tried my best but it doesn't really go with the story all the way. You should still read it though. :))
