After many years of hardships there is finally peace in the White Dragon Empire and the citizens celebrate their emperor's birthday.
As by custom all noble patriarchs travel to the capital to bear witness to the ceremony and bring a daughter of their family along to offer her to be taken into the imperial palace as a sign of support.
But from a sea of beautiful, well-breed and highly educated women Emperor Heishen chooses only one as his sole wife, who will soon learn that the capital's high society hides their viciousness behind friendly smiles and promises of support.
