I'm afraid that's not always the case, sometimes things, or others, can get in the way.
Sarabi had hated Scar for as long as she could remember, how could she possibly love him? He was never going to change, all she saw in him was a monster.

[ Disclaimer: The timings are going to be off, this is a fan fiction so hardly any of this is canon, timings will be very wrong, Cubs will be born at different times to the film, coronations will be wrong, so if something's off, it's just the way I've wrote it, it's supposed to be like that. ]

He did everything for his family, and they still treated him like a nobody. The Lion Guard wasn't any better. They tried to convince him of suicide, and Kion almost went through with it, but he couldn't. Kion hated being treated like this. He couldn't take the abuse or neglect any more. He cried in his grandmother Sarabi's arms every night. She was the only one who cared for him. She tried getting Nala to love him, but Nala refused.
