"You aren't the only one who can bite, love. Did you forget that?" I tensed, feeling his breath against the exposed flesh of my neck. "Don't-" "Why shouldn't I? You know what I'm capable of and yet you continue to test me. You are lucky that I am a very, very, patient man." I'd never been bit before but I knew it was excruciating. I braced myself for the pain, clenching my eyes shut, heaving in breaths that I tried to control but was too weak to do so. "I can feel your heart going a hundred miles a minute. Are you excited or afraid?" "Excited to be bitten by a vampire?" Aspen's teeth slowly dragged against my neck again, my tongue going dry. "You never know. Some humans find it enjoyable, but they're the ones who like pain. You remind me of them Esma, a little pain whore."

"Teach me what it's like," she whispered suddenly. "Teach you what?" he asked softly, even though he already understood. Her eyes lifted to his-glimmering with softness, fear, and longing.
