A year and a half after her father died from cancer level headed Laura and her mother make the decision to put the memories of the past behind them and start their lives over. Starting in a new high school mid fall semester of her junior year as well as working full time hours at the coffee shop her mother is trying to launch. Laura has a clear vision of her future she is taking requirement classes to ultimately end up as a pre-med major when she goes to college where as her father's death has inspired her to become an oncologist. However Laura ends up hanging out with a girl named Bridget and her two friends Heather and Jody and these three girls are up to no good, peer pressure to smoke and to drink alcohol at a party where there are no parents present. It is when three more wholesome and nicer girls from school Kimberly, Maggie and Sophie land a job at the coffee shop is when Laura realizes who her true friends are. This project is aimed at breaking old cliche friendship circle and expanding your horizons. There are good friends out there you just have to look out of your bubble." Hailey is paired with Mason Lightning whom she shares a love-hate relationship since their childhood. Friendships are established and insecurities are broken. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. Before she can do anything though, he puts his hand around her neck and holds her against the wall. Aaliyah pretends to have passed out, silently begging for him to let go, and he finally does. She was still conscious when she hit the ground, but that soon changed when he asked his son to shoot her. Somehow, Aaliyah is still alive and wanders through the school in search for Jack. She bangs on the band room doors, begging for someone to open it, and she weakly falls into Jack's arms once he does. One of the shooters makes his way into the room and Aaliyah begs Jack to run. He does, and the shooter aims his gun at Aaliyah. With Jack being deathly afraid of living without her, he comes out from where he was hiding and the shooter ends up shooting him in the chest. Aaliyah uses her last bit of strength to crawl to Jack and he kisses her before his eyes rolled to the back of his head. She lays on top of him, too weak to stay awake, and passes out while she hugs his body. When she wakes up in the hospital days later, the first thing she asks for is Jack. Her doctor finally gives the okay to see him, and he wakes up shortly after she gets there. He immediately asks if she's okay, and she assures him that she is. Jack continues to progress with healing, but Aaliyah finds out that he has a high chance of dying soon. When he does, she is heartbroken. Weeks later, Aaliyah finds out she's pregnant..
