My name is Lauren Avery. I’m 17 years old and I live in a large city called Avoxa. Avoxa is in a near future dystopian world. It has a population of merely 500 people. Children at the age of eighteen undergo various surgeries and operations to manipulate their features in a combined pattern to match the government’s perfection standards. The day of your eighteenth birthday, the mayor himself escorts you to the GPCC (Government Perfection Correction Centre). There you take part in a series of protocol tests analysing your basic knowledge of governmental policies and laws. They alter your appearance to the point where your own family will not recognise you. After the operation, you are to stand in front of a team of government selected specialists and any leftover imperfections are tended to immediately. If you decide to rebel and refuse to be changed, or don’t do as the Mayor tells you to do, you will be shot instantly. As the Mayor always says “there’s no room in this world for imperfection.” So basically that means you either undergo the surgery and become a government perfection puppet…or die. You choose.

As all Faces are created uniquely for the individual, operating based on DNA given to the Order by your kind doctors and physicians, it is required that you wear your Face as often as you can (excluding meals and sleep) to ensure maximum results. Such results, as you may know, include the following: -increased intellect -increase in motor skills/capabilities -drop in anxiety, depression, mood swings...etc. etc. -regulated impulse control to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you -regulated mood to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you * Note that Face technology, while it does improve mental and emotional stability, will not and cannot help or fix physical disabilities, nor can it fix serious mental disabilities. See your local doctor to receive treatment for such ailments, as your Face is incapable of doing so. Your Face, as you may have heard, will be your new identity from this day forward. Born in 2053, 15-year-old Latika lives in Arcis, the most prestigious city of all Amerax. It's an exciting time for the country previously named America since World War III just recently ended. Technology is booming and permits things that were unimaginable only a couple of years back. Medicine too is at its peak: illnesses have no secrets for the medical specialists and people rarely die before reaching the hundreds. The economy however, is very unstable and riches are unequally distributed... with Amerax getting the most of it. Despite the excessive use of nuclear weapons in the last war, the amount of people living on planet earth just recently exceeded 11 billion and space is scarce, even with buildings towering higher than ever. Due to the overbearing number of mouths to feed, food is now a rarity and therefore, being skinny is a sign of poverty, weakness and ailment while being overweight represents wealth, health and power. As for society, it has evolved in a way that some would qualify as ruthless and inhumane, automatically rejecting anyone that doesn't comply with its strict standards.Complete
