In a small medicine shop in NYC lives a girl named Pace. Pace and her father are the last living potion masters. Potion masters are a type of witch, the only type in Pace's eyes. When Pace's father leaves to go on one of his many trips to tend to magical beings, Pace is confronted by Caelum and Fidem. The two boys tell Pace the truth about her life and more importantly the truth about her dad and his lies. They speak of the five types of witches, seers, mind readers, spell casters, elementals, and potion masters. There is one person who can master all of the five witch powers called the quinque.
