Heavy breathing in cold thin wind, at last I saw my comrades coming this way. The plan was to go on the other side of the city to gather supplies and look for survivors, but it was all interrupted when the bell came. That sound, that same sound, the jingle of hell itself. What was it like before the machines came? I couldn't help, but, we came a long way.

[Book 2 in the CODES series] || Roger, a cybernetic human with a second chance at life, must face the truths of every lie he's told or risk the possibility of losing it all... ** A year after the "Digital War," Roger had his second chance at life. It was owed to him, a forgotten promise made eighty years in the past by the founding fathers of the Province's prospering nations. He and the other "Codes" left abandoned within the silent computers of every living city would be brought back to life... And have their crimes forgiven and wiped from existence. Yet, finding a home in newly created bodies isn't easy for the new cyborg citizens. The Province may have reached its desired Utopian climate, but society itself was far from reach. So many refused to forget the pain every "Code" inflicted on their lives... Roger hadn't forgotten -- he chose to forget. But as those secret plans made before his original death return to the surface, Roger learns -- just as the Province did -- burying the past doesn't help heal old wounds. ** The gun fit so perfectly in my hands. It's metal, still warm from it's last fired bullet, brought back so many memories I'd learned to suppress. I didn't want to be the man standing in front of them, I wanted to grow and change. But let society remind me of my place... "Roger, don't!" Clara's tearful face came in front of me as she tried to take the gun from my hands. "Please, you don't have to do this!" I couldn't look at her. I didn't want to see the pain in her eyes. "That's the thing, Doll..." I tilted my head back and inhaled sharply. "I've got no other choice." The sound of a bullet firing never sounded so nice... She's a thief. Living in the slums of Paris Alicia or Ali is definitely ready to return back home but like everything else in her life that plan crumbles and she is left on a new planet - with only her new neighbour Andre for company. She's sarcastic, rude and a little bit moody so how will she manage when she might need to be nice to get any chance at getting home © copyright all rights reserved Each chapter is at least 1500 words but most likely more. I have spent a really long time writing and planning this book so I would appreciate it if no one copies my ideas. I am welcome to ideas and suggestions so feel free to comment or ask. -- Extract: Andre collapsed. 'Pathetic.' Tyke muttered dismissing his unconscious form. I was about to go and check on him when Tyke told me it was my turn. 'Your fight will be in this arena.' he pointed to the one next to Andre's crumpled body. I looked at Tyke letting a smirk evolve on my features and threw a cocky grin at Elra. I wouldn't beat her, but I would at least hit her. I could take a lot more than Andre, that's for sure. I sauntered over not allowing any hint of my nerves come through. Shoving them down so far I could barely feel them myself. Letting the bravado of street life back in, I entered the cage. Elra was oozing confidence so I gave it all back to her. Focus, Ali. Focus. She wouldn't see me cry.
