What happens when the world starts wilting away? Plants, animals, and humans almost ceases to exist. The oxygen is depleting and the harsh sun burns through the ozone effectively killing everything... While the humans have been at war. The Greatest War of them all. An unknown disease is killing away their children and the elderly. Sage has survived the disease and has manged to avoid death but she doesn't have long. She hasn't seen a human in months. Only eighteen when the world started to crash and now twenty-two. She believes she is the only one left.

The ocean is untouched by all this death. As water starts consuming the beaches propelled by the growing closeness of the moon. The oceans inhabitants, thousands of merpeople happy to rid of the selfish humans. When Sage comes across a raging sea, she is amazed to find another person. A man. Who could be her key to salvation. Little does she know he isn't a human at all. He is soon to be the highest of all the merpeople a prince who will be crowned King when he finds his soul mate.

He will do anything to save his mate from the land that is rotting away. Even take her away from the only home she's ever known.

All my life I've read countless stories of knights in shining armor, and beautiful princesses hidden away in towers. Only for those damsels to forever be lost behind high walls and fire breathing dragons. I'm tired of those endings. I'm tired of the princesses either bound for a solitary life or relying on a handsome and brave prince to save her. I may have my prince but I don't need to be saved.
