Alistair enjoys writing poetry despite his parents' disapproval of the feminity they believe it has. Still, he continues, and when he meets a boy, who his parents also disapprove of, he still continues.
(I've written this before and it was really really bad, so let me know if it's still crap! The point of this poetry book thing is that it is dialogue, and it is written from the point of view of Alistair--what he wants to write about and what he personally feels at each given moment.)

Chicago had never greeted the Valentines with open arms. Instead it greeted them with a slap in the face and reality served on a silver platter. Living with such a large family and such a small income was harder than anyone could have imagined especially when your best form of income comes from your mom being a hooker. Alexander is a middle child in the large family. At the prime age of fourteen he's starting to become confused about many things in his life such as where he fits in, what he wants to do when he's older and his sexuality. Nolan is in the same boat.
