Eccedentasiast (n.) - someone who hides pain behind a smile.

Sherlock Holmes, consulting detective and high-functioning sociopath, has found one. There are too many deductions to be made about Lucille Fitzgerald. She is a literal walking contradiction and Sherlock is completely dumbfounded by her. Even more so than with normal people.

And yet here he is, forced to work side by side with her by Lestrade and thrown into a dark side of crime he has never seen before.

Maybe he'll never know Lucy's secret. Maybe that's for the best. Maybe Sherlock Holmes should finally learn that ignorance is bliss.
But when has he ever listened to anyone?

"I want someone to look at me the same way Sherlock looks at you."
"But he doesn't look me. He's too busy texting that Adler woman."
"He only does that when you look at him. When you turn your back, well.... that's a different story."

This is stunning. You've built a wonderfully turbulent, passionate, and emotionally investing romance without taking shortcuts or writing smut." - FanFiction.net user, @randomreader "Everything just slides so smoothly. You literally watch Sherlock develop into something new: a sentimental man. Now that is what I call good writing." - Guest user on Fanfiction.net "It's beautiful and so vivid; I can feel the characters' emotions. This is so suspenseful, I'm completely swept up." - Guest user on Fanfiction.net "Everyone is in character, there is a plot, and the romance feels genuine and characteristic of the pair. But [romance] isn't the entire story. There is more going on around them which feels real." - Guest user on Fanfiction.net "Completely riveting. The way you portray Irene Adler [is] amazing." - Wattpad User @SubaDev "Out of all the Adlock books I've read, THIS ONE is the very best." - Wattpad User @jeon_park131

♪ First Names are for Lovers ♪ Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, living in a dated, shared flat with bullet holes in the wall, a skull on the mantle, and an absolutely catastrophic kitchen. It wasn't hard to get along, usually. John could handle Sherlock's bluntness and absolute disregard - or lack of knowledge - for people's feelings or sentiment. And Sherlock could handle John's questions about everything he said. John Watson: An army doctor, stationed in Afghanistan, shot in the leg, put out of commission. Psychosomatic limp; magically gone when he went on a case with Sherlock. Sherlock Holmes: High-functioning sociopath, and the only Consulting Detective in the world. He could read people, he could see crimes in the crime-scene; he could win. ♫ ♫ ♫ Sherlock Holmes went off the rails. He did an experiment that got him hospitalized after John found him on the scene. Lines were crossed. Rules were made. Everything was on the line - concentration on cases slowly dwindled, priorities were mixed, and absolutely everything was spinning. ♫ ♫ ♫ Good habits, bad habits, and everything in between. You have good habits, sure, and they have to be balanced out with bad habits. For most people, that's taking your vitamins every day crossed with cracking your knuckles. For Sherlock Holmes that was catching criminals and putting his life at serious risk every time. ♫ ♫ ♫

John's never seen a kid like him. He has this beautiful, crazy grace - withheld behind a smug smile and wisecracks that make John frustrated in so many different kinds of ways. And his eyes; crystal clear, decisive, cleaning through the unimportant things to find the valuables in life. He may or may not have a thing for smoking and James Bond, his favorite ice cream is mint with a chocolate swirl, and he is absolutely addicted to Pop Rocks and toffee. He enjoys pretty boys and warehouses, where he can hoard and think and be alone. Also, bumper cars, and John Watson. But Sherlock Holmes's thing, his niche, his calling in life... is to steal. Books. Wallets. Phones. Cars. Everything you've ever wanted, he's had. Everything you've ever wished for, he's stolen. Everything you are, everything you told yourself that you weren't, he owns, and he plays you like an out-of-tune violin. Does that mean that John's going to let him steal his heart? Not a shot in hell.
