Carter Mills lives in a world where people are protected by their invisible Guardian Angels, and Nightmares are more than scary dreams-- all unbeknownst by her and the rest of humanity, obviously. A sophomore in high school bullied for striving to defy the status quo in every way shape and form, she's become cynical and untrusting over the years from living with a broken family and her own broken self-worth.

Everything changes when she's named the Chosen One out of the blue by the mysterious Guardian Council, who plead for her assistance in stopping the Prince of the Nightmares-- she doesn't want to know-- before he succeeds in wiping out Guardian Angel kind and puts all of humanity in danger.

A lot to take in, she agrees. Lucky her, everything's a little easier to deal with when you've got the best friend you never knew you had by your side.

But what happens when the self-titled Prince is more than a two-dimensional villain?

What happens when you start wondering which side you should really be on?

Who Is Lucas Ryker O'Riley?

77 parts Complete Mature

This is the story of a child, born with both male and female genitalia, and raised as a boy for several practical reasons. As he grows into a young teen, keeping this secret from his brother and all of his friends, becomes increasingly difficult. Knowing that he has genitalia of both sexes, he struggles with lots of what if's and why's, and he wonders if this life as a male is what he wants or would he rather live as a girl. Add to his problems, the onset of puberty. Now a decision is needed before nature decides for him. Disclaimer and warning: Although this story starts out innocently as do most of our own life stories, as the story progresses, themes will shift along with the possibility of mild sexual descriptions. This serves as your only warning.
