It's a reconstruction of a part of a text written by an unidentified soldier of the Royal 22nd Regiment of the First World War, during his participation in the Battle of Flers-Courcelette, held in September 1916.
This memo has been poorly maintained and kept in very poor conditions for decades.
TAKE NOTE: The local archival team has kept a promise to be faithful to the notebook's content as much as possible.

Wildflowers In The Ruins: A 1917 Story
Completed fan fiction for the film 1917: This is the very first fan fiction I've ever attempted. Please be kind. I hope you like it. It features all of the main characters, several of the others, plus many I've created. Northern France, April 1917: A Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse is sent on an urgent mission across no-man's land accompanying two Lance Corporals, but she will have her own mission to fullfil also and be tested in ways she never deemed possible. Each chapter is named after a flower, relevant to the story, and that you can encounter growing in the wild, either in Britain or Northern France, with the exception of roses and Sweet William's. This story does contain spoilers from the film so it's really worth watching it first. Chapers two (from around halfway through) to eight I've taken directly from the film. The script is copyrighted to Sam Mendes and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, although I've worked from what's spoken in the film rather than off the script. I've taken inspiration from other films, television and books (fiction and non-fiction) set in the First World War too such as Forgotten Voices, The Roses Of No-Man's Land, War Horse, The Crimson Field, Private Peaceful, They Shall Not Grow Old, Testament Of Youth, Journey's End and Birdsong. I've also taken inspiration from the beautiful book A Song For Will which is based on the true story of the gardeners and labourers from the Heligan Estate in Cornwall. Every character who isn't featured in the film 1917 is fictitious and the names are entirely made-up, although every female character's Christian name in my story belongs to a female relative of mine who was alive at the time of the First World War, for example my four Great-grandmothers were Mary-Jane, Lavinia, Ada and Alice. Everett VonDyke was only a normal eighteen year old boy, with ambitions and high hopes of making something in this world. Unfortunately, his life would soon change one sunny, summer afternoon in June of 1943. He learns that he has been drafted into the U.S Army and must go fight in Japan. During one of his missions, his entire team is killed, in result, he is the only one remaining. He is then taken prisoner of war in a cold dark cell. As he survives the first night. He suffers a severe head injury the following morning, causing him to begin to lose his grip with reality. In order to keep himself sane, he lifts a notebook off of a dead prisoner and begins to write his life story over again so he can remember the young ambitious boy he once was.Complete
The Roamer Family Plantation
About 125 miles off the shores of Galveston, Texas, lies Grandiosia Isle: 300,000 acres of swamp, mountain, jungle, and thick pine forest. It has endured a lot-a blizzard during the early 1200s, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and in 1875 a forest fire scorched the entire island, rendering it uninhabitable for some time. As a result, the island was nearly devoid of forest life, except for creatures capable of flight, until 1994 when deer and such were reintroduced onto the island. What I'm going to share with you is a paraphrased compilation of journals discovered in chimneys, old basements, and beyond the island as well. I've woven together various segments and made adjustments for clarity and flow. This story is not focused on the Island itself, it is focused on the story and legacy of the esteemed Roamer Family. First arriving in June 1679, they made a mark on the island, but alas, forces removed them. Determined, they attempted a settlement once again, successfully taming the island. It all came to a fiery end in 1875 when the aforementioned fire burnt the island to a crisp, and with the island dead, the Roamer Family's legacy was lost to time.Complete

Strands of your mind cling together like web to a slippery leaf bathed in the morning dew. You have seen both heaven and hell, witnessed the atrocities of war firsthand, and imagined a better life in the deepest, most intimate corners of your dreaming spirit. The wishes for peace and certainty you have once so desperately longed for, now lay trampled underneath the might of your mind's vivid horrors. What was once so bright and lively, now cowers in fear, clinging to gone memories like a shipwreck survivor to some lowly piece of driftwood. From the depths of hell, you arrived victorious, grasping the laurel wreath high above your head. Unrecognizable, with your empty eyes telling a story of innocence brutally taken away from the child curling in shame in the depths of your empty soul. Almost green you are, curly head, having grown up with a rifle by your bedside table, never knowing peace and quiet. Out of the pan that was the Kazdel Civil War and into the scorching flames of Lungmen, where life flows by on its own accord, here, you must learn to live once more. Here we are, a continuation of my previous work "Goodbye Curly Head", which sprawled into quite the epistle (but it wasn't really a letter, it's just long :P). Summarized in the most basic way possible, it's a story about a twenty-year-old Kazdel Civil War veteran who goes to Lungmen and has some troubles acclimating to the steady life presented before him. Sprinkle in a too-good-to-be-true offer and a freshly established logistics company, and you get Andy trying to make it big for as long as his deteriorating mental state lets him. I'd say it works as a standalone story for anyone who doesn't want to bother reading the first part. For now, at least.
