Things Are Looking Up: A Four-Part Fred Astaire Fanfiction

Fred Astaire, half of the famous Dancing Astaires, has recently moved to Hollywood in his first big career move since amiably parting ways with his elder sister. Except... shy Fred is used to having the gregarious Adele around to do the talking for the duo, and he worries whether he'll be able to adapt.

After a take for his first film, "Dancing Lady," goes poorly - as Fred proves to be too stiff and awkward - he sullenly goes out for a night alone. Finding himself in a Hollywood nightclub, his presence quickly attracts attention, and the bandleader invites him onstage to perform a song and dance. Throughout the performance, he finds quiet encouragement from a smiling girl in the audience. Afterwards, on the dancefloor, he invites the girl to dance with him.

As the night goes on... he finds that, with Mary around, things may be turning around in his life.
