“I’ll surrender up my heart
And swap it for yours,
I’m out of touch; I’m out of love,
I’ll pick you up when you’re getting down,
And out of all these things I’ve done,
I will love you better now.’
-Lego House, Ed Sheeran.

When River Bennett walked into her life, it was too late; for she had already shattered the gentle mirror that was her existence, with her wrecked thoughts because of that one slip-up in her living. A life, that was gently sewn to perfection. That one slip-up, which kept lingering in her mind in the most ungodly hours.

And when River Bennett helped her connect those shards of glass that were wounding her system, and discovered a corner in her soul to lock those mistakes, love ignited. And sparks flew. So like every other love story, where boy meets girl, they fell in love with each other; from nothing, to each other’s everything.

But years later, when locked memories are forced to be evoked, and strangers buried within themselves slither out, and their love seemed to be comatose in a surreal oblivion, they had never heard a silence this loud; loud enough to drive them to the exit of sanity.

And what happens when this silence opens up locked doors, and releases the ambushed mistakes of her past. The same mistakes that shredded her skin to soul and everything in between. The same mistakes, which came knocking at her mind’s door, seeking retaliation.

So does she open that door, blinded with insanity and let it crash and damage her already broken soul, or does she protect herself from opening that door, guarded by a shield of her consciousness, and return to drown in the absolute nothingness with River?
