a three-part book focusing on the many experiences of those affected by the Berlin Wall. The first part surrounds Sofie and Lukas, two young friends who are separated by the wall. Seen through the perpective of Lukas who has to go on with his life through the pain of missing his lover. The second part surrounds Sofie's mother and her perspective as she has to leave her family when the wall is built and she is unable to contact them at all. She has to come to terms with the effects when the wall is torn down. The third part surrounds Sofie's brother, Finn who was brought to the Eastern Bloc as a baby and as he grows older he decides to try and escape.
