What she didn't know was that her friend's boyfriend's friend would become very close to her. She would soon go through some things she had never experienced. She and her bestfriend, Mercedes, have been friends since they were little. She didnt really have any friends because of her skin color. Ashley's mom was African American and her father left when she was little. Her mother found someone who would treat her better. Ashley has 2 little siblings. A little brother and a little sister. She wasn't the richest out there but she was happy with what she had. She had 2 jobs so she could get out of the small town of Roseville. When she meets this guys, she didn't know how hard it was going to be. She didn't know she was going to be judged because of her class. She also didn't know her skin color mattered.Complete
An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. ... I didn't know what to do... so I did nothing. There I was, sprawled onto the ground. Just looking at the sky. Wishing... praying... pleading that it would lift me up and take me far away. The bitter air stung my skin like wasps, but still I laid there my legs bare and my body now trembling, did I care though?
