Ella is a girl from Scotland, forced to move to America with her father after her mother's death. After her father marries a second time, she is forced to take care of her spoiled stepsisters, be a housekeeper, and more. At the age of seventeen, she prepares to escape the household the beginning night of a series of fundraiser balls for her father's company. However, a mysterious girl her age confronts her and urges her to stay- and attend the ball.
