Summary: 

Most of the population is dead, some have turned into vicious, crazed creatures who want nothing more than to eat you, and a small percentage are left to try to survive. Nothing is the way it was.

With not much more than a pistol and a vague idea of what she's doing, Claire Harrington ventures out into this new, unforgiving world with only one real goal: to keep her younger sister safe. The odds are against her, until she runs into Parker and finds herself reluctantly accepting his offer to help. 

Trust is a fragile thing. Humanity is a construct. Love is a weakness. But these are the thoughts of a survivor, and she's beginning to wonder if surviving is all she wants. Maybe she wants to live.

The group wasn't just attacking the man. They were biting him, tearing at his flesh, their movements jerky and unnatural. Her stomach churned as her mind screamed the truth: "they weren't people. They were something far worse." . . "How did I end up here?" she wondered. "This feels like something straight out of a drama..." . . "How do people in dramas do this? she thought, feeling the sharp ache of hunger gnawing at her insides. They train for days without eating, and somehow they're fine.
