Y/N was born in Piltover, in the Lanes-a part of the City of Progress meant to provide stability and leadership for the most unfortunate, the oppressed of the Undercity. Since he could remember, he had been under the care of Vander, one of the Lanes' founding figures. Though they shared no blood relation, Vander took him in due to a certain promise he had made. The boy had taken to calling him "Uncle," and together, they lived a happy life.
Until everything changed.
Y/N never fully understood what his Uncle was organizing in the shadows, always preoccupied with meetings and briefings. Then, war erupted.
The revolutionaries of the Lanes seized their chance, launching an assault on one of the great bridges that connected their world to the Upper City. But Piltover's enforcers struck back with merciless force. The Undercity burned. The rebellion was crushed as quickly as it had begun.
In the aftermath of their defeat, Vander changed. His revolutionary ideals faded as he took more children under his wing-Vi, Claggor, Mylo, and Powder. Y/N quickly formed a strong bond with the youngest, Powder.
But one question lingered in Y/N's mind. While the other kids knew exactly what had happened to their parents, he did not. Each time he asked Vander about his origins or the promise that had led to his adoption, he was met with deflections and half-answers. Doubt began to take root.
As time passed, Y/N and Powder lagged behind the others, every sidelong glance from Vi or Mylo, widened the distance between them. But if nothing else they still had each other. No matter what, they promised to stay together...
