As Ester is defeated and Finn is still alive and well the Mikaelson siblings work to try and repair their broken familial bonds. Tyler the now unsired hybrid gets a phone call from not one but two of his cousins, Derek Hale and Lydia Martin.
They both tell him they are on their way to visit in Mystic Falls after a traumatic experience for a friend, Allison (but they don't say it was because she was possessed by a nogitsune). Upon their arrival they also find that Scott McCall has relatives in Mystic Falls in the form of Jeremy and Elena Gilbert.
The whole pack tag along Scott, Derek, Lydia, Allison, Kira, Malia, Liam and Mason.
