This happened because of Doctor Strange trading the green infinity stone for the life of Tony Stark. Most believe he summoned the stone from the cosmos... but what if he summoned it from a person...
Evelyn Strange, the fourteen-year-old unknown niece of Earth's curt and condescending hero, has lived a fairly normal life. Well, as normal as one can get while having another identity. Normal schools, normal friends, and normal activities, all while learning the ways of the Mystic Arts and bearing the weight of her parents' deaths. Taken in by her Uncle Stephen at the age of five, he has tried to keep her from any of the real dangers of being a hero. However, Thanos leaves no other option....
Knowing that Thanos will go after Doctor Strange in order to retrieve the time stone, Evelyn convinces her extremely reluctant uncle to entrust her with the real stone. Placed in a handmade Eye of Agamotto, the green infinity stone merely appears to be a piece of fan-made merchandise around Evelyn's neck. Stephen creates a fake for himself and sends her off with as much protection as he can give, knowing they cannot be in contact. This is the story of before and throughout Infinity War from Evelyn's perspective.
