Haven Avery and Matt Sloan have gone many years of their lives being haunted by Fearlings, or, as they know them as, "shadow ghost people" or "demons." They don't know why they're targeted, but they don't really care. They're much more concerned with wishing for them to stop. However, once they start finding strange things after banding together, their world becomes more dangerous as they delve into the mysteries that dictate their lives. Names on a cave wall. A strange "broken compass." Another person like them.
And the "demons" aren't too fond of their involvement.

All follows, votes, and comments are greatly appreciated. :)

Critiques, constructive criticism, and reviews are also welcome and encouraged, as long as they aren't something purely hateful like "u suck". Take note of the word "constructive".

I will upload a chapter every week unless otherwise stated.

I also posted this fanfiction on DeviantArt and Quotev under accounts of the same username as the one I have on this website.

Guardians of the Light (Book 1: Rebirth) by Kat_Penney
19 parts Complete
Many centuries ago, an unspoken darkness swept across the land taking all that was light and pure in the world with it. Creatures of this darkness roamed free to spread the darkness wherever they went consuming any trace of light remaining. In order to stop The Darkness from controlling the world, a group of priests took the remaining pieces of light and placed them within the body of two chosen children. They became known as the Children of the Light. Their sacrifice was not in vain, leaving behind spoken words for the next generation of children born with the pure light energy within them. Over time an organisation built on these words was formed called The Guardians, who were tasked to seek out the next chosen children and protect them from The Darkness should it rise again. Centuries have come and gone as the battle between the light and the darkness still rages on, unaware of the human race that creatures live among them and that a battle between them and the guardians has gone on for many years. Present day we find ourselves in a small city named New Haeven that has become the centre of the secret world of light and dark. The current story follows a Guardian by the name of Ronin. Ronin saw the faces of the new Children of the Light and was tasked by the Elders to track them down and protect them at all costs. The children were both college students and were one male and one female whose names were James Hillman and Sara Danvers..When Ronin went to see he ran into a ghost from his past, Lillian. The story continues on with Ronin seeking answers from the Elders about how a Guardian could come back from the dead.

This story was previously known as "The Awakening". ~*~ "One... two... three... one... two... three... a million... is that number right?" A figure less voice echoed. "Hello? Who's there?" Caliope asked, focusing on that voice. "One... two... who? A million... a billion... no, it's more... a legion..." Silence. She had seen too many horror movies and heard too many stories about that single word to overpass its meaning. The voice went quiet, yet she was still unable to see where it came from. She rubbed her eyes and all she could see around her was a thick path in a jungle-like scene. She didn't remember how she got there, but she knew it was for something important. Her eyes focused on the far end of the path and all she could see were more trees. She turned to the opposite side and found just the same. "One... two... billions... but always back at one..." the voice resumed it's counting. "Where are you? Who are you?" ~*~ -Her name is Caliope, and when she was a young girl, she never believed in happy endings. For her, there was nothing more than what you see in front of you. All she needed was her best friend Vanessa. Her background is very simple; a foster child with foster parents that were everything but warm and caring. Regardless of that, she became a smart and responsible young woman, ready for whatever came her way. At least that is what she thought. Her new job interview changed her life. It changed everything she ever believed in, and what she thought it was real. Her new boss is an amazing woman who has a son, something different from what he is made out to be. As she discovers the hidden truth about her boss and her son, she has to prepare herself for a whole new world that will unfold to her. ~*~ Intro collaboration with my loyal reader @GabrielleCarden Original Picture from the cover made by Marcus J. 52 parts Complete

People say that everyone has a past life that they don't remember - you included. But who believes in any of those tales of reincarnation anyway? You're wrapping up your final quarter of college, and you think all has gone by fairly normally. That is until you're approached by the King of Nightmares, who seems to know more secrets about your existence than you've ever remembered about yourself. However, he's shocked to find that you have no knowledge of him or any of his statements about royalty, ancient times, or mythical beings. Right when you thought you had the rest of your life figured out, you begin to question who you really are. In the meantime, what will the Man in the Moon or Guardians do when you and the Nightmare King meet? What will the kingdom's fearlings think? Will you decide to join Pitch and his throne after all, or will you resume your regular life away from the scene of legends as you had intended? And most importantly, who are you? I do not own Rise of the Guardians, Guardians of Childhood, you, or the artwork.
