There is one word that perfectly describes 17 year old Peyton May's life: complicated. When she was eleven years old, her father left her, her mom, and little sister for another woman and moved to California; completely forgetting about the family he once claimed he "loved so much." Her father continues to be a minor character in both her and her sister's lives only reaching out when he pleases, as he is too busy taking care of his new family. As she heads into her Senior Year if High School, she is finally starting to come to terms with the disappointment and hurt that came from her father leaving them, and is trying her to move forward with her mom and sister beside her. Her plans of college in her home state of Florida and staying with her friends making it to the finish line together are ruined when her mom takes a job in Washington State. Her life is turned upside down as she struggles to find a new sense of normal, while still trying to enjoy her Senior Year. The only light that comes after a tunnel of hopelessness and darkness is when she meets Jason. WARNING: language and mature content ahead. 13+
