Prince DiCaprio has led an easy sixteen years of life so far, known as a mummy's boy and has so much expected from him for the future. His parents are supportive, rich and they live on an estate where any type of crime is rare. Then there's Hazel Burns, aged sixteen too. She lost her dad and in a way, lost her mum too, not to death but to drugs. She lives on an estate where crimes take place everyday and nothing is expected from anybody there. But Hazel hates that. All she wants is a life where people expect her to go somewhere, where her mum isn't dependent on drugs and her dad was still there to get her by. So she travels to Sheffield and tries to put her mums debts right while her mum is taken away to rehab. People tell her she doesn't belong there and that hurts her pride. She's stubborn and thinks she can do it all by herself. But Prince doesn't want that for her. He thinks that she deserves the world. He wants to help her but all she does is keep running away from him. So he'll just have to pray he can catch her. ________ "I'm not being funny or owt, but I've been here for what? Not even a week and I've already been called common scum, a troubled cow and every other name under the flamin' sun by people I don't even know or quite frankly, even want to know. You're all the same. You've got money so you think you're too good for me. I bet you think I'm on drugs," she stopped to see my reaction but I didn't say anything. That was what I originally thought. "There you go. Shows just how ignorant you all are. See ya." ________ All rights reserved © shantelbradley. Being alone? Check. Being afraid? Check. Being abused? Check times 3. Honestly, my life wasn't this bad before, not until I ended in foster care... SIKE! My life was always bad. From the moment I was born, I lived with an abusive father who blamed me for my mother's death, and even I couldn't disagree with him. Here are a few questions I am constantly asked: 'Do I do well in school?' No, are you kidding me? The only subject I'm good at is Visual Arts. 'Do I have a kind and caring family?' No, I don't think I do. 'Do I have anyone who cares about me?' No, I'm a loner and socially awkward. 'Do I have privileges?' No, if you haven't understood the message yet, I live in an abusive household. Now, you might ask if there are any questions the answer is yes. I'll give you some. 'Do I want to die?' Yes, I sometimes do. 'Do I feel alone in this world?' Yes, always. 'Do I get a beating every day?' Yes. *** This is Amara Williams, a 13 year-old with average grades and no friends. What happens when her only guardian, her dad, is dead? What happens when she finds out that she has five older brothers who are not only strict and demanding, but also protective assholes? More importantly, what happens when she finds out that she was taught lies from the moment she was born? Follow Amara as she digs deeper into her family history, uncovering the secrets and discovering the lies. ___ ⚠️ Trigger Warning ⚠️ There will be mentions of abuse, r@pe, self harm, death, and many other dark themes. I have given a warning now, and I will give a TW in each chapter when reading for safety reasons.
