Kaleikaumaka "Maka" Vete grew up on the island of Hawaii. Maka had been living with her friend Talia Kimitete and her family when both of her parents had left to attend a business trip when Maka was in the sixth grade. With the fear of Maka not making it on her own, Talia's mother, Nohea Kimitete, took Maka into her home and raised her like her own daughter. With Talia's aunt coming over with her son to live with them after tragically losing her husband, a strong bond is created.

Miki Lotulelei just moved to Hawaii after tragically losing his father in Tahiti. Miki's father always had high hopes for his future and Miki had made a promise that he will make his family happy and proud of him when he makes it to the big leads. Being the new kid that doesn't really speak that much English, was a little rough for Miki the first couple of days. But throughout the years he's met some friends, found someone who cared about him and pushed through the pain after multiple loss of family members.

Will Miki make it to the big leads? Is there a possibility that Miki will lead his teams to victory? Will Maka be with him every step of the way? Or will another tragedy come to separate the two new besties?
