Ellie Marshall has gone through way more than any seventeen-year-old should have to.

When her brother, Tyler, dies, it's the last straw for Ellie. She's made a rule to live by to keep herself from getting hurt. Don't get close to anyone, and stay away from anything that involves danger or pain.

Carson Holbrook has a cocky smile, and an attitude to match, and he's made it his mission to make Ellie smile. He's popular, and the captain of the football team. 

When Ellie goes back to school for the first time since her brother died, she and Carson meet, and the walls that Ellie has been building around herself for years slowly come crashing down.

Ellie knows she should stay away from Carson. He is the exact definition of what she told herself to stay away from. But when her best efforts of trying to push Carson away, fail, and only makes him try even harder, this forces Ellie and Carson to form a friendship.

In this story, Carson teaches Ellie that there's more to life, and that taking risks is what makes living life all worth it.
