Ready As I'll Ever Be: Sanders Sides AU

Roman was a peasant boy, who always wanted to be a prince. However, he has no royal blood in him at all. He would have to settle for being a knight instead. Eventually, becomes King Thomas' closest and most loyal friend. One day, he is scouting the woods, looking for danger, when he comes across a man, with a snake eye and scales. he stranger compliments Roman, and promises him he'd have all he'd ever dreamed of; even becoming a prince.
"I'll... I'll be a prince..?"
"No, your majesty, you will be a /king./"

The stranger gives Roman a big bouquet of red roses, instructing him to hand them out to all that he meets, promising that they'll love him. So he does. And everyone does indeed love him. But only a few weeks later, the same man approaches Roman with a crown of roses.

"Every king needs a crown," he says and puts the rose crown on Roman's head, and the instant he does so, all the color drains from the petals until they turn pitch black. Anyone who had been pricked by the roses falls into a zombie-like daze, and anyone unaffected flees to the edge of the kingdom.

Roman becomes a twisted version of himself, and 'kingnaps' King Thomas, taking control of the entire castle.

Meanwhile, Royal advisor, Logan, and two castle staff, Virgil and Patton, very close to the crown, gather every unaffected person and go to the edge of the kingdom.

Virgil, being one of Roman's close childhood friend and desperate to get him back, plans to attack the castle, but will he make it in time?
