"If you love me, you won't leave me." Jessie has believed those words from her boyfriend, Josh, since senior year of high school. She loves him and doesn't want to leave him. Not even when he shouts at her and hits her. Jessie's best friend, Kolleen, can't stand seeing her in that situation. With a bit of convincing - and the worst beating she'd ever received - Jessie agrees to move into an apartment with Kolleen. But not long after, Jessie is scared the worst of her nightmares will soon become a reality. Josh goes missing, and suddenly Jessie would swear she's being followed. One night changes everything, and one person soon changes Jessie's outlook. A responding officer from that fateful night begins to seek her out, at first claiming it's part of his job. As she spends time with her new friend outside of his job, she starts realizing that her feelings are evolving. After being abused for over a year, Jessie is terrified she's falling in love. What's even more terrifying is that he might be, too. She isn't ready for love. Not yet. She makes up her mind that if he is falling, and if he does love her, he'll wait for her to be ready, and if she loves him, she won't let herself hurt him. Can the words that used to cage her in really be the key to her freedom? --- Featured On: @NA: Take a seat and let it be | Mature Content and 18+ reading list @NA: You deserve the world | Mental Health reading list Ambys Top Picks New Adult 2023
Hunting the Fairy Tale by MaggieOHighley

This story is my happy place; I do not plan on ever finishing it. It will go on and on like a soapie. Might break it up into volumes later. "Grab a bunch of broken misfits, chuck them in a tribe, add some glitter and loads of weird-as garbage, voila, you've got yourself a fairy tale... kinda... just... you know... minus the fairies..." Paisley Davenport ♫ When Willow Mayfair's life falls apart, her mother brings her to Briar Cove, the small coastal town where she grew up. Living with Rebecca's childhood friend, a new world filled with love, excitement, and friendship opens up for both of them. For everybody who also dreams of a fairy tale and won't care if the "knights" were a little dirty. Genre: Slice of Life/Romance/Humour This is a slow-burn journey through love and life, filled with an array of beloved characters, their sad moments, happy moments and a multitude of bat-sh#t crazy moments. P.S.: This is not a fairy tale... Thank you: Micaela, for helping the characters take on a life of their own and encouraging me to keep on writing. Phillo, for not minding reading girly stories... if it's to help your mom. Jeandré, your weird-as sense of humour and quirky feedback inspires me and keeps me going. ♫ This is a work of fiction. Any names or characters, businesses or places, events or incidents are fictitious. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Having a best friend is one of the best feelings in the world. Knowing you have someone to count on for everything. People like Samantha and Aiden can testify to it. Being best friends from birth. Their parents said they were closer than bread and butter. After a tragic accident which led to the death of Mrs. Smith, Samantha's mother, when she was 13, her dad thought it best to move his family. Making Samantha move away from her better half. 4 Years later, Samantha and her family come back for Christmas. To Samantha's dismay, not only had Aiden changed but is dating the girl who she thinks almost destroyed her chances of dancing in the national ofinals. Things get worse when Samantha realises the feelings she has for Aiden are more than one would have for a best friend. Continuing her mother's legacy to plan the town's Christmas dinner, she has to balance her friendship, love, betrayal and an unknown enemy to prevent the Christmas celebration from being ruined everyone. Will Samantha realise everything is not what it seems before it's too late? Please Note I know Nashville is a real place in Tennessee but in this book it's my made up version of it. So please excuse any errors in places. Completely fictional. Everywhere else is too.
