This retelling of The Phantom of the Opera is inspired by some true historical events and characters as well as themes from the 1946 film, La Belle et La Bete(Beauty and the Beast), the Gaston Learoux novel, Phantom by Arthur Kopit, and Andrew Lloyd's Phantom of the Opera.
