Sophomore Gaile Somers hates everything about herself: Her body and how it's proportions we're always off, her hair and how it's red and constantly curled and tangled, her smile and how she had a crooked tooth that somehow affected her whole life, her eyes and how they required thick black glasses and how the eyelids laid lazily above her sockets, the list goes on. Her parents don't make it better either. They're always pressuring her to lose weight, get good grades, watch what she eats. She feels trapped, sealed in a bag of responsibilities that she can't get around or away from. She feels alone. The school counselor Mr. Riggs, takes notice of Gaile's withdrawal and promises Lucas Zumann the extra service hours he needs to graduate if he can get her to join the school's tech team and hang out with Gaile to lighten her sorrowful mood. Being a senior it's a hard decision to make but he takes it anyway in desperate need of the service hours and even more desperation to graduate. Though they may seem different they have a lot in common. And tbh, this book is about to get deep and sappy af. --------- #1 ranking in #dieting 5/25/2019 Hit 1k reads on June 3rd Submitted 2019 Wattys story under the category of 'Young Adult'
