I ran as fast as she could down the street until she came up to an alley. Footsteps coming close behind me, though they were blocks away. I lost Lucas about a mile ago, fighting off Elliot, who was determined to catch up with me. I walked a few steps and stood up against a building so I could catch my breath, “I saw her go this way!” I heard a voice shout out. It sounded familiar, but I couldn’t quite make it out. Another voice came from about a mile away, “ Melanie! Where are you?” I heard a familiar voice whisper. Lucas. He was close, “I’m in the alley.” I whispered. I took a few steps close to the dumpster, and crouched behind it, hoping Lucas didn’t have any company. Feeling a fast breeze on my back I turned around, standing over me, was Lucas, “Oh Lucas! You’re alive!” I jumped up and hugged Lucas with all my strength. Lucas stood still, not moving, “What’s wrong?” I asked and slowly let go of Lucas, “I’m sorry Melanie…” Lucas said in one breath. I took a step back, and slowly looked behind Lucas. Tears built up in my eyes, “Harry?”
It was scary how he couldn't resist me. The way he lost control was frightening yet only seemed to draw me closer, not that I had a choice. He loved me in every way that a person could. The way I laughed, the way I looked, the way I smelled, and that frightened me too. But to me, the scariest thing about Harry was how I couldn't resist him, how I couldn't escape.
