Mason Casey. A boy with an emotional past. A boy who is sad. Really sad.
After Mason Casey goes through a hard patch, he is sent to a boarding school across the country; Chistor, school for troubled young men. He is stuck in a school with boys who are too troublesome to go to a normal school. Everyone of these boys has either a mental illness, a bad police record or is too much trouble for their parents to handle.
He meets new and different people. Each of them has a story. Not all of them are happy, but they are trying to be.
