Seventeen-year-old high school juniors Azar Rousch and Max Ellis click during their first class together, choral studies. Yet their backgrounds are so different. Azar takes Vocational Tech classes studying how to manage her own Dollar Store someday. Her divorced mom cleans at Ellis Plaza, owned by Max's wealthy parents who are preparing their superstar son to move into their insurance business after he gets an Ivy League education. But teen dreams can turn to dust as their parents' lives crumble around them, and in the chaos, all Azar and Max have to hold on to is each other. Will it be enough to allow their budding relationship to survive? Or will outside stressors of heavy school loads, a father's illness, and resulting physical and emotional problems on Max's part doom their special friendship? Are Azar and Max overreaching boundaries even by reaching out to one another?
