Lance, brother of now-Queen Allura, prince of the somehow-still-standing Altea, had never actually put too much thought into how or who or why he'd fall in love with someone. Despite having a reputation for being a flirt, he'd never thought of when he'd find The One (those words, with what they mean, needed to be capitalized).
But when Allura decides to put forth the effort to be sympathetic to Galran slaves, saved and brought forth by their ally Lotor, Lance doesn't need much more time or prodding to finding The One Whom He'll Love the Most Forever.
Problem is, one of the ex-slaves, badass, beautiful, sweet Keith is pretty damaged. Answer? Easy: Lance.

If they do not receive the things they require they can grow to be small, disabled, or even die. ~ The leaders of Altea and Dibazzal came to a consensus hundreds of thousands of years ago that determined the age of maturity for their children to be 100 years old or 30 years in a human based time line. ~ Near the beginning of the large, intergalactical war, a decision was made. Any child shall not participate in the war, be harmed, or mistreated until they reach the age of maturity. The cause of breaking the law is death or exile. Keith always thought he was a human. He had no reason to think otherwise. His father, a fireman who died when he was 8, was the only parent he had. He thought he was human even through the pull of the blue lion, the trip through space, and even when he joined a small group called "The Paladins of Voltron." However, when he met his first Altean, things started to unravel. Unwanted cravings for love and attention surfaced with no apparent cause. It was pulling and tugging but always distracting, making jt hard to focus on his duties to save the universe. They weren't something he ever needed on earth, so why now? The Altean-Galra teen now needs to find where he belongs in the world, or rather space, with new information and growing needs. With the breaking of a decades long law, a change in character, and protective on lookers, how would this change the course of the show? Lance whispered, his breath close enough for Keith to touch. "B-Being by my side," Keith moved closer to Lance, closing the small distance between them, "I-I thought y-you'd all hate me." "Why would you think that?" "Ha," Keith let out a bitter laugh, "I'm half Galra. I share half of my DNA with a race who has killed countless civilizations, not to mention they kidnapped Shiro and Katie's family, and they-" "Exactly, "they". You didn't help them do any of that, right?" Lance touched Keith's forehead with his own, drinking in the feel of his soft skin. "N-No but-" "No "buts", you didn't choose to be born part Galra, and you have more than proved you're a paladin." "Allura and Coran hate me," Keith mumbled, trying to find some way to prove that they did indeed hate him. "No they don't, just give them some time to adjust," Keith turned around, pulling Lance's arm around him, "They have to get used to you. None of us hate you, not the smallest bit." Lance waited for Keith to argue but the boy had already fallen asleep. Lance hugged the boy tighter as he copied his steady breaths. "I could never hate you." ------------------------------------------------- Keith gets kidnapped during a simple mission of the paladins. He's tortured and abused for three days, leaving him a damaged mess. The paladins finally find him and bring him home, but Keith is acting strange, stranger than usual. I obviously don't own Voltron.
