SHE RAN FAST. Her glorious green dress flashed in the moonlight, it flourished into a gentle wave with every stride of her pale legs when she leaped from the grasp of the snaring forest floor. The tendrils of her copper locks were caressed by the wind's gentle whispers and the sheer terror in her stormy eyes was dark and sinister like the shadow that loomed some paces behind her. She stopped fleeing and pressed her bare back against the bark of a wide tree. With every crunch of crispy autumn leaves against boot, the more hairs began to prickle on her exposed nape. One glance behind. The full moon glinted and sparked against the knife in his hand and while he twirled it he started to speak, each flash of silver sent a fork of fear down her delicate spine. "One two, one two, and through and through." He spoke in an emotionless tone. "The blade went snicker snack" -a branch fell to the floor with a thud. "He left her dead and with her head he went galumphing back" A hand snaked round her head and the scream she almost released was stuck in her throat, pink lips refusing to let out her cry for help. Warm breath blew down her back and a grimy finger stroked her cheek, she bit it and didn't stop till the bone began to grind against her canines. But he slashed at the silk material covering her legs until the red seeped from her lily - white skin, the girl began to tire, and so crashed to the floor with a whimper of defeat for she had not escaped her nightmare this time. However, she decided this was the last time, she would not close her eyes in fear of him again. No. She would stop her pain altogether.

Carlisia ran as fast as her sore legs would let her. Her top was ripped and her knees scabbed from all the time she had tripped on the rough patchy ground. She tripped again, blood dripped from the corner of her mouth as a stone bust her lip. She quickly got up, and continued to run. She could feel his presence. Not chasing her, no. Observing her. He was amused how she thought she could run away. Carlisia's knees buckled underneath her again, she was so tired and in so much pain. A sob escaped her lips, she couldn't take it anymore. Sniffling, she took deep breaths, trying to get up but her legs wouldn't let her. They were just too bruised. She sighed, this was it perhaps. She rolled onto her back and pushed herself up against a tree, just as a figure emerged in front of her. "Tired I see?" The dark voice said after a moment of silence. "P-please just let me go." Carlisia whispered. Her throat was dry from all the screaming earlier. "Where would you go Carlisia? Hmm? There is no where to run to." He mused as he casually strolled in front of her. Clearly amused by the situation. "Well, there are places." He said sarcastically, swatting his hand in the air for emphasis. "Just not ones where you can hide." He tusked finally looking at her straight in the eyes. "There isn't a place in this world, no nook, no cranny, where I can not get you from. I need you to understand that love." He said as he crouched in front of her and tenderly brought a strand of her loose locks to his nose and took a deep breath, momentarily closing his eyes. "I will find you from any depth of this universe." he breathed out. Tears fell from Carlisia's eyes as she looked at the side, trying to push her face away from him, breathing as if a deer caught in headlights. "Well, not that I will let you leave in the first place." He chuckled, tugging at the strand as he finally opened his eyes. They were once again golden. Copyright 2021 ©
