The Hunters were supposed to be a myth.
For centuries, Aryndov has been ruled by the ruthless and immortal Sovereign kings. Everything changes when the 7th king goes missing along with The Books of Essence it becomes the job of the Hunters, the Sovereign kings' personal guard to find out who stole the books and their 7th King. 

The Heretics weren't supposed to live. 
Delilah didn't plan on becoming a Heretic, but it happened anyway. She also didn't plan on helping a six-legged cat search for The Books of Essence but....it happened anyway. All she wanted to do was return to her family, but it looks like with her new power she wont be able to anytime soon.

The books weren't meant to be read.
The books don't just contain the knowledge of Essence, they are Essence. Now that three of them are missing, the Sovereign kings' plans are in motion and someone is bound to die.
