Everyday, Alyce Knight puts on her clockwork body suit and pretends to be the criminals that lurk London's streets. Why? She is an agent for the Human Re-education Program - A program that take London's most notorious criminals into a re-education plan that teaches them to be better Citizens of England. As a former criminal herself, Alyce excels at her job, and is happy to do good in the world. 

  As Alyce takes on her newest mission, becoming the infamous Emilia Wannerson, her world-and her life- turns upside down, as the lines between good and bad, blur together. Much of Alyce's  life has been a lie and  as more secrets are discovered, she is left to questions which side she is actually working for. Set in the backdrop of Victorian-Era England, with amazing machines and gadgets being creating everyday, the Industrial Revolution is happening before her eyes; But Alyce soon learns that machines can fail and humans will lie.
