"People like me do not get a happy ending. We end up in caskets before we can retire."

There was one thing she's never envisioned for herself since her time as a killer: love.

One man would pop into her life, originally as an assignment, but would later turn into something more. After years of being an incurable mess, she couldn't possibly let him in that easily.

It was surely a bad thing to let herself feel affection once again.

Status: COMPLETE, but under very heavy editing

~Complete~ Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to build yourself back up and find your happily ever after. Astoria, Story, Vaughn would say that fate had it out for her these past few years. After losing her whole family in what would come to be known as the blip, she thought she caught a break when she met Nick at a support group to help survivors move on. But life doesn't always work out how we want it to, does it? Steve Rogers was ready to give it all up for a chance to have a normal life with Peggy Carter but a last minute decision sends him back to the present exactly as he was before, maybe just a little more jaded. Still, he was ready for a normal life. Giving Sam the shield was the right choice but he couldn't turn off his need to save people. So he traded his suit for a uniform, helping as he could as a paramedic. What happens went fate brings them together on a fateful Thursday?
