Snow is the first born to Stormblades current king and thus he is heir to the thrown but when his father passes Snows stepmother takes over the kingdom since snow cannot be crowned king  until he reaches the age of Eighteen.

Queen Malina seems a fit ruler but secretly she is unstable and cares too much about her appearance because of what happened to her in her past.
