At age seven, all Lillian wanted was to play with her Barbie dolls and wear mismatched clothes. At age ten, she wanted to be popular and covered in make-up. At age thirteen, those dreams crushed her and she stopped eating and started cutting. At age sixteen, she was barely visible to the world. She was neglected, abused and raped everyday by her stepfather. With scars all around and no food in her stomach, she was ready to give up. Until, one boy changed her life completely. He showed her that life can be happy, even if you're not what most people want.

This is the story of an abused teenage girl, Maddie. Her need to die has become overwhelming and she is trying to find a way to help herself before she does something she may regret. The story is told from her point of view as she recalls all that has happened to her. Maybe telling her story will help her, maybe not. This isn't just any other sob story. This is more realistic. You may even find yourself comparing your life to Maddie's while reading this story. Disclosure: I wrote this as a 13-year-old and the writing is definitely not up to my current standards, but I feel as though changing what I have already written would take away from the emotion I put into this story at 13 years old. Were they on drugs? Who was it? These are all questions someone would ask if this subject came up, but the most important question is how did they get driven to this point, this point of ‘no return?’ What was going on in their life that made them this depressed that they never wanted to come back? This story is about a young girl who, throughout the story, you find out about her horrible home life and school bullies. You find out about her talents and her scars. She is driven to the point of no return, but can she find the strength to not take the plunge? Can she step off of the ledge and pick up the broken pieces?

Harsh and raspy; His voice bombed with power as he clenched his fists in rage. The young girl stumbled over her bare feet, her heart about to explode out of her chest. Her breathe was ragged, eyes shut for a split second before being born again and filling her body with a big scoop of that cold morning air. I'm lost. Broken. And nobody knows. I help people, and when you help people, you don't get help. I couldn't look at myself think how a mess I was. It was too late for me to be fixed. Nobody could help me. I was too deep in it for being saved. I had too many scars and thought. I already had a broken mind. When I tried to kill myself and failed at it, they brought me to a mental facility. There I meet other teens with different stories and each with their problems. The longer I'm here, the more stories I get the knowledge. We come together to tell our stories so that we can move on from what hurt us in the past and what waits for us in the future. We're all strangers, but we're all living in this messed-up place call life. So can we overcome our broken minds. -2014-
