In the Northern continent of Fae'run in the world of Arborea, there is racial discord in one of the region's most powerful human kingdoms. Meanwhile, an order from one of the elder gods has provoked a violent and desperate search for a precious artifact.

In the midst of outer forces, six unlikely questers must band together: an exiled heir, a wayward scholar, a crooked soldier, a shattered assassin, an overly-cheerful minstrel and a young healer (who really didn't ask for any of this).

Whether they like it or not, together they must prove their worth as an ignorant world begins to collapse; at least until they become peons of otherworldly deities.
