"I said I would always protect you." He said stroking a piece of my hair behind my ear. Which sent electricity through my whole body. "I don't need protecting." I said sternly looking up into his deep brown eyes. "Then let me just be able to call you mine." He said flashing me that boyish smile that makes me melt everytime I see it. "I love you." He said, and this time...I actually believed him.

A girl, in search of why things go so wrong in her life. From tragic events, being moved around the foster system and then finally living alone. She scourers her world for answers of why her life can be flipped so quickly, but one thing stands in her way; memories from her past. A boy, who's parents are dying and is vaguely aware of his surroundings. He wants to heal his parents while trying to hold himself in one piece. His deeply loved sister disappears from his life, causing him to breaks down in pieces so easily. He needs help of his own but won't admit it. Two are thrown together in a mess of their own worlds. They each have what each other need. But will they risk it all to help a stranger? Tied together through struggles and love, these two embark on a journey to find answers to their problems. "Then you must not have looked at a lot of girls," I responded looking at our feet. He pulled me into an embrace and put his hand on my hips. I tried to wiggle away from him, but he pulled me even closer tightening his grip on me. My head was off to the side. I didn't want to look at him. His finger found his way to my chin and he guided me to look into his eyes. "I will help you see yourself how I see you. I will help you see that you are beautiful. You will love yourself as much as I love you," he proclaimed. He leaned forward breaking the space between us and kissed my cheek. He turned around grabbed my bag and grabbed his keys and went towards the door. ~~~~ Eliza is a short overweight girl. She often compared herself to other girls. She has good friends, awesome brothers, and good grades. But her parents are barely there and when they are they are distant and often feels invisible. When a cute basketball player named Kai takes an interest in her, she finally feels important. He makes her feel alive, wanted, and safe.
