It's been almost two years since Queen Serena suddenly disappeared and has been presumed dead and the kingdom of Kalos is in ruin without her. Ash has been living in a small cottage with Brock, Iris, and her son, Maynor trying to keep food on the table. One day, Ash is sent to sell the cow for money until he meets a mysterious man who convinces him to sell the cow to him for magic beans. When his friends learn of this, Iris angrily throws them out of the window, but then the beans grow into a giant beanstalk and a strange mouse dressed in a pink dress climbs down from it asking Ash and Brock for help.

Based partly on Mickey and the Beanstalk but primarily on the 1974 animated Jack and the Beanstalk film.
