River Vixen is a seemingly typical seventeen-year-old girl from the small town of Rochdale on the mythical continent of Arkila. Once every ten years, the Headmaster from the Calgary School of Excellence pays a visit to each of the four towns and five villages in order to seek out five gifted children between the ages of fifteen and seventeen to train at the school to become Dragon Riders. What River doesn't know is that she herself is part Dragon and that a dark force that has long been hidden in the shadows is rising and only she and her Dragon can defeat it.
