A Strange Boy and His Power

The bedroom door opens with an ominous creak. A woman, fear evident in her eyes, peaks through the crack of an opening. In the room, a boy of 8 years is seen meditating on the floor. He starts to float a couple inches above the floor, a ball of energy, or shinsu, appears in between the palms of his hands. More appear until there are seven acorn-sized shinsu balls hovering in the space between his hands.
"Hajime, it's dinner time." The woman said shakily. The boy dropped to the floor, the shinsu balls dispersed, and he opened his eyes.
"Yes, ma'am! I'm coming!" The boy replied cheerfully. He stood and ran out of the room.
