Staff Sergeant Hogan had devoted his entire adult life to the United States Marine Corps. He put off finding a girl, getting married, and starting a family so that he could focus on his career.

Now he regretted it.

He had twelve weeks, four hundred and eighty hours of leave time to spend with his mother, who was dying of cancer.

Margaret Bailey had spent the majority of her life after her parents passing in Seaton Bay, anxious to get out and explore a city with a population grander then six hundred and twelve. She chose a big school in a big city and expected to stay there long after graduation. However, her plans changed drastically when her brother was discharged from the Marine Corps after losing his arm in combat. Although he never asked, she packed up her bags and the life she had made for herself in the city in order to care for him back in Seaton Bay.

The last thing either ever expected to find in their separate seas of misery was happiness in one another.

But can it last after Landon's four hundred and eighty hours are up?

*Formally Known As: My Hero is My Best Friend and a Marine (MBFFM) "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." -George Orwell "Mummy door!" Bentley yelled running in the kitchen from the foyer. "Is she, well lets go see" I say wiping my hands on my apron, walking to the front door. As I open the door I see a Marine standing there in his uniform with a few envelopes in his hand. "Are your Alana Kelsall?" he asks in a kind voice. Confused I reply "Yeah I am please, call me Anna." as Bentley peeks out from behind my legs. I have this really bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that I know what this is about. "I'm General R. Paul, on behalf of the United States Marine Corps, we are sorry to tell you that Captain Damon Norris was killed in the line of duty. These are for you." He says handing me the two envelopes. <3 Damon and Anna have been best friends since they were in diapers. Their families are close friends. When Damon was 18 he decided to join the forces, more specifically the Marines; following in his grandfather's footsteps. What she doesn't know is that he has loved her since he was only 13 but, was just too scared to tell her. He had only one week after basic training to see his family before being deployed to Iraq for 4 years. So they decided to spend his last week together and before his deployment; they wind up sleeping together. Resulting in her becoming pregnant. What would you do if you were told that your best friend, and the father to your children was dead? Then years later find out that he actually survived by showing up on your doorstep late in the night? ~*~*~ *Warning: there is a lot of cussing, crude remarks, the occasional sex scene, and possible triggers, don't say you weren't warned.* Co-written with: River-Elliot D. Sixteen years ago, my sisters and I moved from France to the United States to live the American dream. Not long after, I met Declan, a marine who was home for his mother's funeral. He was my everything, my world, and the love of my life. Four and a half years later, I became his fiancée. Then, when I thought everything was going well, my world ended when I awoke to him gone. No note, no nothing. He was just gone. I waited days, weeks, and months to hear from him and for his return. That never happened. Then, I met Chadwick, who took the pieces of my broken heart and put them back together. He promised me many things during our dating years, guaranteeing he'd give me the world. And he was. Then, after years of not wanting to give my entire heart to him, fearing he'd do what Declan had done, I pushed the fear of him leaving me aside and married him. The night we married, instead of giving me the world he promised, I was gifted a nightmare. For over six years, I lived in a lake of fire. If I wasn't locked in a dark, cold room for days on end, day and night, I was tormented, punished, abused, and tortured in the blackest darkness until I could no longer see, talk, or move. Maltreating me until he broke me. Finally, one of my prayers was answered when an ally close to Chadwick helped me escape the prison of hell. She flew me out of New York and brought me to her friend's home in Mobile, Alabama, where I got the shock of my life. He wasn't just her "friend." He was a ghost from my past, and now I'm in his care. Oh, and he has a child nearly as old as our breakup.
