Intro to Classical Mythology
Greek and Roman mythology is quite generally
supposed to show us the way the human race thought
and felt untold ages ago. Through it, according to this
view, we can retrace the path from civilized man who
lives so far from nature, to man who lived in close
companionship with nature; and the real interest of the
myths is that they lead us back to a time when the
world was young and people had a connection with the
earth, with trees and seas and flowers and hills, unlike
anything we ourselves can feel. The imagination was
vividly alive and not checked by the reason, so that
anyone in the woods might see through the trees a
fleeing nymph, or bending over a clear pool to drink,
behold in the depths a naiad's face.
Nothing is clearer than the fact that primitive man,
whether in New Guinea today or eons ago in the
prehistoric wilderness, is not and never has been a
creature who peoples his world with bright fancies and
lovely visions. Horrors lurked in the primeval forest, not
nymphs. Terror lived there, with its close attendant,
Magic, and its most common defense, Human Sacrifice.
Mankind's chief hope of escaping the wrath of whatever
divinities existed lay in some magical rite, senseless but
powerful, or in some offering made at the cost of pain
and grief.

Never had she seen a ray of sun or a twinkle of stars but only heard about a world that existed above them in books. Her foster family prepared her and hundreds of girls for a deal that they were never told about. When she turned sixteen, they opened them for sale to the scientists and werewolves for experiments. Afraid, she took the chance that she believed was necessary to save herself and someday them, even if it could end her life. She ran away far and clueless until she accidentally trespassed the territory of Blood Moon pack. Lucky for Mira, the Alpha of the pack was on a run before pack warriors could find and kill her for a rogue. He took her to the packhouse, treated her wounds and gave her space to start a new life. For Alpha Maximus, she should have been a recovery case, but she was more than that. Mateless for a decade, he couldn't understand why he was getting attracted toward a barely adult human. She made him and his wolf feel things that they never experienced before. For two years, he had been in the shade until the night came to answer his confusion. His suspicion turned into reality when he smelt her and found out she was his mate. A human for a mate, but that wasn't the issue, the issue was mating season and him being on heat. Through thick and thin the Law shall prevail. A new sense of purpose awaits us, children of light, in the land where it all began. The darkness in which we once cowered in fear, now curbed by the might of our endless light. Come, brothers, come, sisters. Let there be peace among the wicked, just as the Law dictates. Peace and certainty is all that you have ever longed for, little angel. A bright, stable future. A roof without holes above thy head. Acknowledgement and recognition of thy existence, feverish dreams of grandeur. Greed born from yearning, treacherous vines of rapacity taint your innocent soul. You seek a future that does not exist. Let thy fingers hold the fragile line between dream and nightmare. Let thy light navigate the path. Shall thee give in and falter, O' land of old, envelop his body in thy unending flame of chaos. Spit out nothing but an empty husk, the remnants of a smile once so bright. Shall thee prevail, O', Great Kazdel, I ask of you, the impossible - take mercy on the innocent. Don't let the radiance dim and don't let the mind turn bleak. Wake, young traveler. Bid thy farewells and burn thy bridges. It's time to say goodbye, curly head. Cross post from AO3. For a shorter and more on-point description, look no further! I had something silly written up before throwing it out in exchange for that wall of text upstairs. It's a little story "about a young, dumb sankta who's been dealt a bad hand at life, looking for his place in all this mess. The pointless search for a better future leads him far, far away from home, to a country forever ravaged by war and misery - Kazdel, the promised land where devils roam free and peace feels out of place." Anyway, it's quite lengthy, but hopefully enjoyable? Slide a comment if you want, I'll give you a tiny kiss on the forehead. Man, do I love comments. (Lastly, to point out, English is not my native language, but I don't think it'll be much of an issue ;3)

Time didn't matter to her. She got up when the sun did and tried to sleep when the sun went down. because of this seemingly endlessness, she's forgotten her name, she's forgotten her family and she's forgotten everything she use to be. Now she was nothing. Living on the streets of a town begging for money and food from travellers that didn't know who she was, unlike the rest of the town that thought of her as something unnatural even though she doesn't know why. Constantly abused by the townspeople who don't understand her, she is left to die in an alleyway after a horrible run in with three drunk men. She was expecting to die and have her corpse eaten by rats and other vermin. What she didn't expect was to be saved by a woman that was everything but human. "Do you want to live?" This woman asked and when she looked into herself she knew the answer, it came easy through her busted lips. "Yes." From that day on she became something else, something not human, something extraordinary and from that day forth she will serve this woman who saved her life and maybe one day remember her name or be given one by her new Mistress. Maybe one day she'll remember who she was and maybe she'll even find the one person that completes her soul. From that day forth she became a Nightwalker. Completed. This is a lesbian story and contains mature actions between females. There will be warnings at the beginning of the chapter if you do not wish to read such content.

Get out your popcorn, tourists beware, here comes a paranormal adventure with a historical twist, set in Egypt--and Britain. From Chapter 29 'Darkness': 'Did I just try to dive into that goo to get at a dead guy?' Trueth asked. Define dead,' Metjen said with a half-smile. He muttered something and touched Trueth on the forehead. The rest of her giddiness faded away--only to return as Metjen crushed her in one of his bearhugs. 'For a moment I thought we would lose you. Don't do that again.' Trueth's cheeks burned. That could only be the caffeine. The stuff had never agreed with her. 'It wasn't my idea, there was a voice in my head!' *** Trueth hates being the last paranormal creature left on Earth. She needn't worry: On a trip to Egypt she runs into Metjen Al-Nour, magical member in the last temple of the sun god Ra. With sparks flying between them--not only those of the magical variety--they solve a 5000-year-old riddle where clues are literally buried in tombs, historical sites--as well as in the family safe. But their journey is far from over - where other stories end, this one really takes off... . The second novel in the trilogy, 'Cursed Times - Only Yesterday!', is completed, and 'In My Attic' - a spin-off to the world of Cursed Times is available with weekly updates. === Copyright information, given the recent acts of content piracy: All copyrights of the texts are mine exclusively. My Last Breath (Book one of The Portal Series) by Chinesechickens123

BOOK ONE: Having enough courage to run through the woods and away from the people who convinced me they were saving me was not how I believed I'd spend my day. Yet, there I went escaping from the only place I knew existed in the world. Being held captive was too much for me, especially when these people wouldn't tell me who they were or even who I was. The first moment in my life I recall very clearly. I awoke in a dark room, with recollection of everything that happened in the world except for one thing. I had no memory of myself existing, I didn't know where I was or why these men kept me from leaving. Days after I first woke I asked plenty of questions, and yet none of them were answered. The only thing I learned was that I was not allowed outside because the woods heald the most powerful magic on the planet, the most dangerous magic. It was more than just bad men and curiosity about the forest that got me to leave, it was a pull towards something; towards magic. Once I was in the forest turning back was never an option, so I put it in my head that I'd keep walking until I found a civilization or a nice paved road that would lead to safety. But that never happened because the forest has a force living through it. Believing that the forest held something strange was the easy part but experiencing it myself was something totally different. I didn't expect anything normal but I didn't expect to be completly engulfed into the forest. I was led by an unknown presence that made me truly believe it was a living being, and in fact it is. I was innocent then, but now I know that anything can be hidden under a small platform in the woods with a secret bigger than the world itself. I was given life that day, until it all ended months later; the day I took my last breath.

The First Artist was a Woman with No Name

11 parts Complete

When you close your eyes and picture the first person to ever paint the walls of a cave, do you picture a man or a woman? When you imagine the first tool humans developed, is it something deadly, like a spear tip, or something nondescript, like a bag to carry berries? When you think of human interactions with nature, is it one of conquest or cooperation? The Woman has no name and no voice, yet she discovers that she possesses a power never before seen by anyone in her small community. She simply wants to live her life, but when a powerful spirit threatens her tribe and her home, she cannot sit around waiting to be rescued. The Woman grapples with towering questions as she carves a place for herself in the world. What defines the relationship between humans and the rest of the natural world? Does power only manifest as brute strength? And what is she willing to do to protect those she loves?
