Does your story & writing shine as far as: ★ - Concept ★ - Voice ★ - Storytelling The Standouts is a fun, but hopefully helpful contest that can give you a sense of whether your story resonates with someone who's got some experience under her belt. Great! But who are you to judge? Fair question. This is not to humble-brag, but I've been critiquing and have worked with story development for quite some time, and I've picked up a lot along the way. ☙ - As an Ambassador, I work on content projects. ☙ - If you look at my profile, you'll see everything I've published so far has managed to standout in one way or another, whether by leading me to become a Wattpad Star; or by winning a Watty (twice!); or by being picked as a Top 10 in major Wattpad contests (twice!); or being featured. All I'm saying is I'm no slouch. I'm not brilliant either. But I've got some experience around what can catch an agent, editor, or judge's eye, and I'd like to share that with the community. ☙ - In another lifetime, I used to work for HBO in Development and at ICM (the talent agency) in their writers' department which means I understand how professionals quickly gauge whether or not they'll take a closer look at a work and/or make an offer. This kind of insight can be helpful if you're planning to submit your work or even just want to stand out more here on Wattpad. ☙ - I used to provide critiques for three writers, all of them traditionally published. They seemed to value my insight. Read the RULES, LOGISTICS & PRIZES chapter for guidelines. All entries get a brief assessment of their first chapter, with winners getting more extensive critiques. Izuku Midoriya had everything a 4-year-old child could wish for. He had a family, a home and a quirk that was like no other. Thanks to a tragic and very bloody night, he was left with nothing then his own memories of a happy past and his quirk to protect himself. He quickly found out that people are looking at him because of his quirk. All the people ever wanted was his quirk and not him. Years pass, and the little green bean learned to trust no one but himself. If one was to ask him what was his quirk, he would say he was quirkless. It was only a protection measurement he found out to be necessary. After all, a quirkless life was better than a life in a laboratory. One day he was fortunately enough to meet the number 1 hero and could finally ask him the question of his life. What will however happen if the symbol of peace gives him an answer he has never though he would hear? More importantly, what will he do once he finds out he still has family out there? Will Izuku be able to find them? And what will poor Izuku think about his new family? Will they be able to save him from himself? Let's find out! Izuku will be part of a test of sorts that he and Nezu come up with, the main idea is how well can a non quirked individual do in a hero work environment, the secondary idea was how the students working as heroes would interact with a vigilante in their test. Getting back to the point, technology surely has MUCH MORE influence and practical use in this world. Now, imagine the power to control this technology. Or, having a quirk that allows you to do so. Let's join each other and follow the journey of a young man named Y/N Colomar, who has this specific quirk. Like any other kid his age, he wants to be a hero. Join us as we explore the story of what if Izuku Midoriya was expelled on the day of the quirk apprehension test that Eraserhead conducted on the first day of class? What if instead of All Might getting Nezu to override the decision, he decides to send Izuku Midoriya to another hero school by pulling a favor with the school? What if Izuku's training underwent a complete overhaul due to the staff at the new school learning of him only having it for a short period of time? What if they learned of him being discriminated against and help him gain confidence in himself instead of leaving him to his own devices as Eraserhead did in the canon? Well, we can see what happens in those what-ifs through this story. [Me, complaining and contradicting all and everything written in every fanfiction created.] No hate, Just me, rambling about different topics in Fanfiction writing. Why? Because we all start somewhere, am I right? The good, the bad, the rightout clichès and the straight up delulu stuff. Note that I probably did most -if not all- of these things myself when writing, so be prepared of your beautiful cringefest and maybe learn a thing or two about writing a plot/story. Side note: Writing is a creative process, so... no shame in making any mistakes! We all have to start from somewhere! I've been writing since age ten and even did a Minor in creative writing whilst studying for my degree. We met in school. We were each other's greatest competitor. We were not fond of each other. But as the months passed by, we started to know each other, we had shared a couple of back stories as we worked on our group presentation. We became friends, then close friends, and then after a year, we became lovers. But just when I thought that everything was in their right place, my biggest downfall came. After our third anniversary, he started to become cold. He no longer joins me studying, he was even reasoning out that he's tired all the time and that he couldn't send me home. I said it was fine, I can manage. I thought it was just that, but it wasn't. I decided to confront him, I went to his condo and there, my greatest fear welcomed me without warning. He was with a woman, a pregnant woman. He was holding her like she's the most fragile thing on earth. They looked so happy. I didn't know how I managed to compose myself and walked towards them. As soon as our eyes met, he froze. I looked at the woman tensely and lifted my hand as I introduced myself as his classmate and she introduced herself as his girlfriend for a year, already. He said he loves her more. That every time we are together, his mind was with her. He said I make him hard, but she makes him weak. He said I make him feel special, but she makes him feel loved. He told me to punch him and berate him for he would rather end our relationship than leave her and their baby.] But the story, my story doesn't end there because I chose to move forward and be the strong woman that I am.
