Façade

The Second Wizarding World War is over. Voldemort has been defeated and the Death Eaters have scrambled. All the students had the option of returning to Hogwarts for an 8th year, in order to finish their studies.

Draco Malfoy was deeply affected by the war. The constant comments about his parents' disappearance and his cowardice has broken Draco. But, he was determined to return to Hogwarts because he wanted to make a life for himself and not be like his father and mother, traitors and feared. Draco puts up a façade for all to see that he is not affected at all by the war and tries to hide his despair by being his old self, cold-hearted and mean. But in reality, all of his so-called "friends" have abandoned him, including his mother and father, leaving him alone.

Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived, decided to return to Hogwarts per request from Headmistress McGonagall. He convinced Hermione and Ron to return too, although Ron's family was still grieving the loss of Fred. Harry didn't know what to expect out of this year, but he sure knew one thing, he didn't want anything to do with Malfoy...but what if one conversation changed Harry's view on him?
